A native Washingtonian, Dr. Lauren Gavaris graduated from the Holton-Arms School, and received her medical degree at the George Washington University School of Medicine. She completed her ophthalmology training at the Washington Hospital Center/Georgetown University. After her residency, Dr. Gavaris completed her Oculoplastic and Reconstructive Surgery fellowship at the Sinai Hospital of Baltimore.
Dr. Gavaris’ services range from reconstructive surgery of the eyelids, eyebrows, tear duct surgery, thyroid eye disease, eyelid tumors, and facial trauma. She also performs cosmetic surgery of the eyelids and eyebrows. Dr. Gavaris is experienced in the placement of punctal plugs to treat dry eye and ocular surface disease. In addition to surgery, Dr. Gavaris has advanced training with Botox and injectable facial fillers such as Juvederm.
She is currently involved in resident and fellow education at the Georgetown University, Washington Hospital Center, and Children’s National Medical Center. Dr. Gavaris is a Board Certified Ophthalmologist and a member of the American Society of Oculoplastic and Reconstructive Surgeons (ASOPRS) and the American Academy of Ophthalmology.
Dr. Gavaris is a former collegiate tennis player and lives in Bethesda with her husband and three daughters.
